Venice Film Festival: the red carpet
Ramona Tabita and Nick Cerioni told us, as insiders, how
their work works, some background related to important premieres of the past
and the forecasts for the next, highly anticipated red carpet in Venice. «We
certainly start from an inspiration, from a mood. In the case of a woman, above
all, you have to start from a general idea, I can already imagine everything,
from make-up to hair ", explained Ramona Tabita, author in Venice of the
Ghali outfits in 2019 and the first, unforgettable, release of couple of Elodie
and Marracash in 2020 . « I mainly dress men who, unlike women who can vary and
indulge themselves with evening dresses, are rather homologated.A tuxedo risks
being the same as many others if an element is not inserted that can make the
person walking on the red carpet stand out », is the point of view of Nick Cerioni,
who among others wears Pierfrancesco Favino.

Golden rule: amaze
" The surprise effect is fundamental, as in the case of
Elodie and Marracash : I wanted a Versace custom for her and I started working
on it by asking the maison to make it when Venice was not yet confirmed, "
said Ramona. The starting point was a runway look: «the one that Kendall Jenner
wore on the catwalk, silver and metal mesh. The idea at that point was to
decline it in a longer version, for the evening. Then when I learned of the
possibility of Marracash coming, I thought about a couple look. At that point,
for him I wanted some details of the suit, such as the lapels of the jacket, to
take up the metal mesh of Elodie's suit » . " In the case of Ghali, "
he added, "we wanted to convey a message of a rethought masculinity and a
redefined formal , he, in fact, did not wear a tuxedo, as usual, but a Dior
dress designed by Kim Jones that moved a little away from the canons of the
classic red carpet. Plus everyone expected him to wear Gucci ».

Secrets of the trade
The red carpet in Venice, and beyond, is a real test : you
have everyone's eyes on you, ready to catch even the slightest imperfection
" For me there are two factors that must prevail on a red carpet: the
first is elegance , that is the sacredness of such an event: there must be no
smudges », explained Nick. « And the second is the mood , the reason why you
wear a certain outfit. I always make sure that there is a story behind the
look, something to communicate: you want it to be a surprise effect or a cue to
stand out. Right now the tendency, even in the male, is to experiment, perhaps
lately even more than what happens in women. For the female part in my opinion
we will see very very elegant things, but also very ordinary. Personally, I
prefer when you tend to leave your comfort zone, you stand out from the crowd
».

« There will be a desire to dare » , Ramona added, «there
are fewer events and, for both brands and artists, the opportunities to be seen
are more limited. The few red carpets that exist are even more important ,
because they constitute one of the rare moments of visibility of this
historical period. Those who participate want to be remembered. We lives in an
era in which no one wants to be just well dressed, but focuses on the scenic
effect above all else ».
